Punta Gorda residents should follow these specific guidelines when disposing of severe storm or hurricane-related debris and household garbage.

 debris procedure

1. HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE & RECYCLING • Normal schedule

  • Please have all trash out to the curb by 6AM on the day of collections

2. YARD WASTE • Palm fronds, Branches, Leaves, Shrubbery (shall not exceed 4" in diameter or 4’ in length)

  • Do not mix with regular household trash and/or construction material
  • Please make sure it is true storm debris ONLY
  • A special pick up of these items will be made, the specific times and dates will be forthcoming

3. CONSTRUCTION & DEMOLITION MATERIALS • Drywall, carpet, furniture, building debris, etc. if you have any of these items please place in a separate pile

  • Please make sure it is true storm debris ONLY
  • A special pick up of these items will be made, the specific times and dates will be forthcoming

PLEASE REMEMBER

  • MIXED materials will NOT be picked up.
  • ALL debris must be placed in the City right-of-way. The City cannot collect items on private property or on a vacant lot.
  • Avoid setting debris against trees, poles, mail boxes, fire hydrants, water meters, etc. Doing this makes it difficult for staff to pick up the materials and impede City services.
  • White Goods (appliances) should be placed in a separate area within the right-of-way.
  • Additional questions, please email pubworks@pgorda.us or call 941-575-5050.
