Welcome to The City of Punta Gorda Fire Department’s website. We are here to serve you 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days each year. In addition to the traditional role of providing fire protection and emergency medical services, we offer so much more. In line with our City Council’s desire to be community-oriented, you will find our staff is available to help with any request you may have. We strive to not only meet, but exceed, the community’s expectations in every way.

As you look over these pages you will note we offer numerous community outreach programs such as Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training, home inspections, speakers for club/group events, infant & child Safety seat installation, blood pressure screening, boat flare disposal, and much more. Please feel free to contact any of us for more information on any of these programs. You should also feel comfortable knowing we provide our employees with the training and equipment necessary to ensure you receive the best service available.

I am proud and honored to serve this outstanding community as your Fire Chief. After having worked over thirty-one years through the ranks to the position of Assistant Chief/Administration with Hillsborough County, I joined the City of Punta Gorda in 2005. Besides my work experience, I bring to the City a background well-rounded in fire science having been awarded an Associate of Science Degree in Fire Science, with Honors, and as a graduate of the Executive Fire Officers Program at the National Fire Academy in Maryland. As a certified instructor with the State of Florida, I have taught many programs and have published articles focused on rescue practices. Together with Training Chief Ray Briggs and Fire Marshal Jennifer Molnar (both Punta Gorda natives), we invite you to spend a few minutes becoming familiar and learning more about the services our entire Department provides.
