Hounds on Henry Dog Park: Park is currently closed, sod has been installed throughout the park and is being watered on a regular basis but will need more time to root and create a solid base for good growth, contractor has concerns with the big dogs running about may tear it up. It is anticipated that the park will reopen on February 27, 2017. The closure will be for one more week (weather permitting) and for the safety of our guests the gates will remain locked. The park closure is a short term inconvenience with a long-term benefit. We have to remember to look at the big picture and take care of our community amenities. The dog park has become one of the most frequently visited parks in Punta Gorda and the City is committed to its on-going maintenance. Charlotte County’s Edgewater Dog Park at 22410 Glass Lane, Port Charlotte will be open for use during this time. The City appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during the closure.
